About VISTA Magazine:
VISTA Magazine is a full color health publication distributed across Canada . With over one million readers and 200,000 copies per issue, VISTA is growing fast and becoming a powerful entity in the Canadian health market. All aspects of VISTA branding were created by Chris Hart Design over a period of several years including the magazine template, cover, internal ads and web site.

Discussions:
When VISTA contracted Chris Hart Design, all aspects of the creation of a magazine and supporting web site were still on the drawing board and through several iterations and actual magazine issues the result is displayed in the present magazine template and branding design. Some years after the creation of the magazine it was decided that VISTA would make its articles available via a searchable database as they are used as a constant source of information for many Canada 's holistic practitioners. The necessity of a practitioner's directory was recognized early on in the development as well, so the ability for them to sign up and list their practices for free in their national data base was envisioned as well. While many other web sites were closing up their free offerings and moving to the subscription model, VISTA remained open and a free content based model on the fact that it has always been a free print publication since the first issue. VISTA is handed out mostly at the checkout of health food stores. To become the leader in the natural health industry they knew they had to do something different and ultimately supportive of the very industry that had supported them for so long. Providing health practitioner's the opportunity of free listings seemed a “natural” way of doing just that and a great way for the health products that advertise in VISTA to be promoted to the right audience.
Outcomes and Conclusions:
The design requirements of VISTA were vast and varied and Chris Hart Design has met every demand with creative and original concepts and designs helping it stand out from the crowd. From the second issue to the current issue #47 Chris Hart Design has been retained for ad and cover design and web site design and development. VISTA Magazine has been online for nearly 4 years and receives thousands of unique visits per month to the article archives all unique users looking for pointed health information that only VISTA possesses. The database of Canadian health practitioners has grown to several hundred with more being added weekly. VISTA Magazine is now the largest free health publication in Canada and is still growing strong. Chris Hart Design will continue to provide leadership in design and a consistent branding message.
